What I Know to Be True About Setting Goals…
GOALS ARE EXCITING. Writing my goals is exciting. The more I think about what I want to accomplish and where I want my life to go – the more passion and enthusiasm I feel.
I KNOW I NEED GOALS. I need to have goals – whether I take time to set them or not, I KNOW I should. I KNOW it works when I do it.
I CAN ONLY SET MY OWN GOALS. I can not set goals for others. If I try to force myself to set the goals others want me to set – I rebel. I need to set and decide on my own goals.
GOALS ARE NOT SET IN STONE. My goals are not written in stone. Goals are a starting place. I know that most of the time I don’t end up exactly where I thought I would – sometimes the results are far better than I ever thought they would be. Yet setting the goal gets me moving in the right direction.
GOALS TAKE TIME. It took time for goal setting to become more than a fun activity. It is great to set goals but the real value in setting them is taking the action to achieve them. Both setting goals and taking consistent action can become habits.
GOALS ARE BETTER WHEN SHARED. I am more inspired to set big goals when I hang around people who also have big goals.
