Here are some of the things I know I must do in order to think BIG.
Create space. I don’t think BIG when I’m rushing through life. I don’t think BIG when I’m stressed. BIG thinking needs space to grow, breathe and expand. I can’t rush it or force it. I must let go and let it develop.
Remove the wet blankets. I don’t need to be brought down, discounted or made fun of. Life is too short to hang with negative people. I must engage with other dreamers and BIG thinkers regularly if I want to go beyond my comfort zone. I’ll rarely convert a group of small thinkers to think BIG – but I will think BIGGER when I hang with other BIG thinkers. I purposefully choose who I will spend time with and how much I share with them. I don’t need to hear every reason why it won’t work – I need to figure out how to make it work.
Tell the truth. There’s nothing that limits my thinking more than negative self talk. And the thing with negative self talk is that it’s normally not true. Being disciplined with my self talk and avoiding believing the lies that may wonder into my head is crucial for my success.
Be positive. I get to choose every day to be positive. And when I do I open up the door to thinking BIG. And some days I must choose more than once. But no matter what I must own the fact that my attitude and my thoughts are my choice.
Have fun. Thinking BIG should be fun – it should challenge me and inspire me. If it becomes a chore I’ll avoid it. I choose to make it fun, make it life giving and do it often.
How will you think BIG this week?
